SMGC co-hosted a high-level panel on ‘Compassionate Leadership’ on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on 22nd January. Led by SMGC CEO Asmita Satyarthi, the distinguished speakers included Martin Chungong, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union; Kerry Kennedy, President of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights; and Lisa Kristine, Award-Winning Humanitarian Photographer.
At a time when rising inequalities, accelerating climate risks, conflict, and declining public trust are reshaping global priorities, the panel highlighted the urgent need for leadership that strengthens social cohesion and advances equality. The discussion explored Compassionate Leadership as a strategic model that balances institutional ambition with collective responsibility.
The panel sparked an unfiltered conversation on how decisions are made, who they serve, and how moral clarity can guide institutions toward justice, equality, peace, and sustainability.
During the panel, Asmita Satyarthi said: “Compassionate Leadership asks for authenticity and moral courage to move from dialogue to action. It recognises that ambition and compassion can co-exist—and together make institutions more resilient and sustainable.”
