The need for globalising compassion is more imperative than ever in the present international context, which is scarred by wars, deepening conflicts, inequalities, and global warming. International alliances are shifting, and exclusion, extremism, polarisation and division have unfortunately been mainstreamed in many countries.
Despite global commitments to the UN’s ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to create peace and prosperity for people and the planet, they are not progressing quickly enough to achieve their 2030 deadline.
The Youth Summit on Human Fraternity & Compassion, held from September 30 to October 2, 2023 in Viratnagar, Rajasthan, was a landmark event that brought together over 600 global youth leaders, religious figures, social activists, and thought leaders. Hosted by the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion (SMGC) in collaboration with the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity (ZAHF), the Summit aimed to foster open dialogues, generate actionable initiatives, and build a global movement centered on compassion as a transformative force.
